À beira do Mar Cantábrico, Gijón apresenta uma fascinante mistura de sabores marítimos, património monumental e uma urbanização moderna à beira da praia. Iniciámos a nossa jornada ao longo da marginal junto à Playa de San Lorenzo, uma extensa praia que se estende até onde a vista alcança. Atravessámos o centro histórico, um labirinto de ruas estreitas e praças pitorescas, repletas de história, até aos Jardines de la Reina.
Além disso, merecem destaque o Monumento a Don Pelayo, que remete às origens históricas da cidade, e a Plaza Mayor, ponto central, rodeada por cafés e lojas tradicionais, proporcionando um local agradável para relaxar e absorver a atmosfera local.

EN/ On the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, Gijón presents a fascinating blend of maritime flavors, monumental heritage, and modern urbanization by the beach. We began our journey along the promenade next to Playa de San Lorenzo, an extensive beach that stretches as far as the eye can see. We traversed the historic center, a labyrinth of narrow streets and picturesque squares steeped in history, all the way to Jardines de la Reina.
Noteworthy landmarks include the Monument to Don Pelayo, recalling the city’s historical origins, and Plaza Mayor, a central square surrounded by cafes and traditional shops, providing a pleasant spot to relax and soak in the local atmosphere. With its welcoming restaurants and traditional shops, the historic center unfolds as a true journey through time, offering visitors an authentic and memorable experience.
