Passeio pelo Vale do Rio Spasski

Passeio pela floresta do Vale do Rio Spasski, cujo objetivo era a observação de ursos-pardos. Na data da nossa visita, os ursos-pardos ainda estavam a sair da hibernação, pelo que apenas foi possível vislumbrar dois ursos ao longe. No entanto, o passeio valeu a pena pela beleza do trilho que percorremos, ladeado por árvores centenárias, e pela vista deslumbrante sobre o Rio Spasski ao chegarmos às plataformas de observação. Além disso, a diversidade da fauna e flora local, com várias espécies de aves e plantas raras, enriqueceu ainda mais a experiência.

EN// Walk through the forest of the Spasski River Valley, with the goal of observing grizzly bears. On the day of our visit, the grizzly bears were still coming out of hibernation, so we could only catch a glimpse of two bears from a distance. Nevertheless, the walk was worthwhile due to the beauty of the trail we followed, lined with ancient trees, and the stunning view of the Spasski River when we reached the observation platforms. Additionally, the diversity of the local fauna and flora, with various species of birds and rare plants, further enriched the experience.

Observação de Baleias

Mais um passeio para observação de baleias, e em toda a viagem ao Alasca, foi o período em que apanhámos o pior tempo, pois choveu quase o tempo todo. No entanto, o jogo de paciência a olhar para o horizonte em busca de baleias acabou por ser recompensado com várias aparições. Foi possível acompanhar algumas delas por alguns minutos, observando as suas respirações, mergulhos e a impressionante cauda a bater na água.

EN// Another whale-watching tour, and during the entire trip to Alaska, it was the period when we encountered the worst weather, as it rained almost the whole time. However, the patience game of staring at the horizon in search of whales ended up being rewarded with several sightings. We were able to watch some of them for a few minutes, observing their breaths, dives, and the impressive tail slapping the water.

Venture into the pristine wilds to look for iconic Alaskan animals such as humpback whales and grizzly bears in their natural habitats. Your adventure will begin aboard a whale-watching boat accompanied by a naturalist that will describe the creatures that you may soon observe. The nutrient-rich waters here are teeming with humpback whales that come to feed each summer before heading south to their breeding grounds. What a sight to watch these behemoths, which grow to about 50 feet long, as they breach the water’s surface and then dive down to feed again. Chances are, you will also catch sight of porpoises, sea lions and seals. After disembarking, you will drive deep into the remote Spasski River Valley to a raised observation platform to look for grizzly bears. They take their name from the gray, grizzled tips of their fur. Bald eagles and Sitka black-tailed deer are also commonly spotted here.
