Um dia em Glacier Bay
“Dia de navegação dos mais bonitos de sempre!” foi a frase que acompanhou o nosso post no Instagram (@algunssonhosvividos)
Entrámos bem cedo pelo Glacier Bay, um parque natural altamente protegido. A bordo, tivemos a companhia de três rangers do parque, que nos forneceram informações detalhadas e nos guiaram numa espécie de visita guiada muito interessante.
A manhã foi passada nas áreas exteriores do Norwegian Sun, indo de um lado para o outro para ver, assimilar e acreditar que estávamos realmente ali! As paisagens eram absolutamente impressionantes, com destaque para o tempo que passámos junto ao Margerie Glacier e ao John Hopkins Glacier.
O Glacier Bay National Park é um dos locais mais espetaculares do Alasca, conhecido pela sua biodiversidade e pelas suas paisagens glaciares deslumbrantes.

We entered Glacier Bay, a highly protected national park, early in the morning. Onboard, we were accompanied by three park rangers who provided us with detailed information and guided us on a very interesting tour.
The morning was spent in the outdoor areas of the Norwegian Sun, moving from one side to the other to see, absorb, and believe that we were really there! The landscapes were absolutely stunning, with highlights being the time we spent near Margerie Glacier and John Hopkins Glacier.
Glacier Bay National Park is one of the most spectacular places in Alaska, known for its biodiversity and breathtaking glacier landscapes.
Margerie Glacier

Este glaciar é um dos mais visitados da Glacier Bay e também um dos mais ativos. Felizmente, não tem sofrido com as alterações climáticas e tem-se mantido estável e inalterado nos últimos anos. O Margerie Glacier tem aproximadamente 34 quilómetros de comprimento e é famoso pelo seu gelo azul impressionante e pelas ocasionais quedas de blocos de gelo, um fenómeno conhecido como “calving”.
Estar ali, observando a grandiosidade do glaciar, foi uma experiência verdadeiramente memorável e um lembrete poderoso da beleza e resiliência do nosso planeta.

This glacier is one of the most visited in Glacier Bay and also one of the most active. Fortunately, it has not been affected by climate change and has remained stable and unchanged in recent years. The Margerie Glacier is approximately 34 kilometers long and is famous for its impressive blue ice and occasional ice calving events.
Being there, observing the grandeur of the glacier, was a truly memorable experience and a powerful reminder of the beauty and resilience of our planet.
John Hopkins Glacier
O Johns Hopkins Glacier é considerado um dos glaciares mais pitorescos do Alasca, com vistas deslumbrantes à medida que flui pela montanha até ao mar. Este glaciar tem quase 19 km de comprimento, 1,6 km de largura e 76 m de altura acima da linha de água. O seu acesso é limitado ao Inlet Johns Hopkins, que foi por onde navegámos. O nome foi dado em homenagem à Universidade Johns Hopkins em Baltimore, Maryland. A melhor notícia é que o seu avanço é significativo e desafia a tendência de recuo devido ao aquecimento global. Este glaciar continua a crescer e a expandir-se, um sinal positivo num cenário global de preocupação com o derretimento das calotas polares.
EN// The Johns Hopkins Glacier is considered one of the most picturesque glaciers in Alaska, with stunning views as it flows from the mountain to the sea. This glacier is nearly 19 km long, 1.6 km wide, and 76 m high above the waterline. Its access is limited to Johns Hopkins Inlet, which is where we sailed through. It was named in honor of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The best news is that its advancement is significant and defies the trend of retreat due to global warming. This glacier continues to grow and expand, a positive sign in a global scenario of concern about the melting polar ice caps.
