EN// The Lakes of Covadonga are located in the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park, just over 20 kilometers from the town of Cangas de Onís. We chose to park our car in the town and use public transportation that departs from the city center to the Buferrera parking lot. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by local guides who provided us with useful information and instructions. There are several trail options, and we opted for the “short” trail, which is about 3 km.
Starting from the Buferrera parking lot, we began by visiting the Pedro Pidal Visitor Center. Then, after enjoying the view from the Prince’s viewpoint, we returned to explore the Buferrera mines towards Lake Ercina. After a rest period for refreshments, we climbed to the Entrelagos viewpoint, from where we descended to Lake Enol, completing the return journey to the Buferrera parking lot.
The Lakes of Covadonga showcase a breathtaking landscape, where tranquil waters reflect the towering mountains of the Picos de Europa, creating a scene of untouched natural beauty.
